How is the procedure performed?
There are two types of techniques to perform a rhinoplasty; the technique will be defined by the doctor taking into account the case of each patient and the characteristics presented. Generally, the most commonly used technique is the open technique, since it gives access to the entire internal structure of the nose. We use ultrasonic technology that allows us to have better results and a better postoperative period.
- Closed rhinoplasty: incisions inside the nose.
- Open rhinoplasty: incision in the lower part of the nose, in the middle of the nasal grooves in order to remove the skin or tissue and perform the surgery.
What type of anesthesia is used?
Recovery time
Nose surgery is not usually a painful procedure, sometimes patients report more discomfort than pain because during the first month they can not breathe well through the nose due to swelling. This process is usually a little slow.
The patients, in some cases, present headache, they can have some secretion and nasal bleeding the following day that will diminish with the passing of the days and that usually does not constitute a problem. Bruising may also appear, which usually disappears over the days.
The first month the patient should refrain from sun exposure, physical activities, avoid wearing glasses and use the bandage recommended by the doctor. Physical activities can be resumed after three months.
